Thank you for your interest in membership at Westmount Golf and country Club.
For more information on membership, read below or fill in the online form below to contact our Membership Secretary.
Membership Forms |
As a private members' club, the process to join the club as a new member requires that a sponsor and seconder submit a proposal to the Membership Secretary, on behalf of the applicant. The proposal forms, with instructions for completion, will be given directly to the sponsor or seconder.
Both the sponsor and seconder must have been members for a duration of at least two years, and have known the applicant for at least one year. Neither the sponsor nor the seconder may be immediate family of the applicant. The applicant's name will also be posted in the clubhouse for ten days, during which time members are invited to comment.
Following approval of the proposal by the Membership Committee, an application form will be sent to the applicant. This form must be returned by the prescribed date, along with payment of the prevailing initiation fee.
This process could take only a month to complete.
Membership Options and Initiation Fees
At Westmount, a Spousal Rule is in effect. As such, the spouse of any member is automatically a member. The social initiation fee is a couple’s initiation fee. If a member joining Westmount is not married, this fee still applies and upon marriage, the member's new spouse automatically becomes a member. Additional initiation fees on an individual basis apply to golf memberships. All initiation fees are non-refundable.
Social Membership
• Includes curling, tennis, and full use of all facilities excluding golf.
• Annual social dues and minimum spending requirements apply.
• A gratuity charge of 15% is applied to private banquet functions.
• The current initiation fee is $5,000.
Golf Membership
• As full golf privileges are not presently available at Westmount, new golf members are required to join as a social member and put their name on the Full Golf Waitlist. Our current projections are a 3 – 4 year wait for Full Golf
• Limited golf privileges are being offered to new members immediately upon joining
• Once golf privileges become available, an additional fee of $15,000 per person is required, bringing the total initiation cost to $45,000 per golfing couple ($30,000 single initiation fee)
Limited Golf Privileges
Limited Golf allows a member to play 20 rounds of golf per season during restricted times as follows:
Monday anytime
Tuesday- anytime (except men during ladies only times)
Wednesday before noon and after 6:00 p.m. (except ladies during men only times)
Thursday anytime
Friday before noon and after 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays anytime after 1:00 pm
Sundays and Holidays anytime after 3:00 p.m.
If a golfer uses all 20 of the allocated rounds, he or she may play additional rounds at approved limited times by paying the prevailing green fee.
Share Structure
Each senior member of Westmount qualifies to become a shareholder of Westmount. Upon joining, each social member (i.e. both a husband and wife) is issued a Class "C" Share, which is non-voting and carries certain privileges in the case of the wind up of the company. The Class "C" Share is convertible to a Class "A" Share upon full payment of the golf initiation fee(s). A Class "A" Share is also a non-voting share; however, it is convertible on request to a Class "B" voting share. All classes of shares have a par value of $100, which is an additional charge upon joining. A nominal transfer fee applies for conversion of shares.
Children of Members
Junior aged children of Westmount members (to age 21) are automatically included under their parents' membership. There are no social fees charged for juniors; however, activity fees apply for any of the sports they participate in. Junior age of entry restrictions vary from sport to sport. In the case of golf, a junior is required to be ten years of age before access to the golf course is permitted. In the case of tennis, programs exist for children as young as five years of age. In curling, flexibility exists based on strength, coordination and interest.
Between the ages of 21 and 34, a member of Westmount is classified as an intermediate member. At age 26, an intermediate member may begin payment of initiation fees in equal annual instalments for the duration of their years of intermediate eligibility. These annual payments are interest free and based on the prevailing initiation fee at the time they became an intermediate member (21 years of age on January 1). If an intermediate member is the son or daughter of a Westmount member, the golf initiation fee will be discounted (there is no discount for social only memberships). Special consideration is granted to intermediates that take into account the many changes in lifestyle that can occur during these years into account. Therefore, student fees, non-resident fees, different golf options, etc., exist and can be applied as needed.
All fees quoted are subject to change without notice. GST and any other applicable taxes are extra.
